Status Indicator:
PAST Project

Project Name: Security Credential Management System (SCMS) Proof-of-Concept (POC) Implementation
Project Team: Vehicle Safety Communications 5 (VSC5) Consortium
Timeframe: February 2015– June 2018
Sponsor(s): NHTSA
Synopsis: The primary goal was to build a proof-of-concept implementation of the SCMS that would verify the principles upon which it was designed. The project successfully delivered a complete system specification and demonstrated the viability of the system. In load testing, where realistic performance was simulated, the system demonstrated a rate of pseudonym certificate generation and downloads multiple times above the required rates to handle the first year of full national deployment. In addition to delivering the complete system specification, the project also developed and tested all required internal messages, performed extensive testing and audit of the functional system.
